Philly’s best cheesesteaks

If your group is celebrating an occasion in Philadelphia, be it a graduation, wedding, promotion or just a general get-together, give Party Bus Philadelphia a call to hire a charter bus, coach bus, party bus, mini bus, passenger coaches or school bus. Your group will arrive together on time, and in style, with a party bus.
Every time people get together, food is likely to be on the agenda, and what better way to make your acquaintance with Philadelphia than by trying one of her famous cheesesteaks? A cheesesteak is simply a crusty roll filled with thinly sliced pieces of beef, and topped with cheese. Specific other toppings may be offered. It might be a simple dish, but it has never been successfully duplicated outside of Philly. Even within Philly, arguments break out over which place serves the most authentic cheesesteak.
The invention of the Philadelphia cheesesteak is credited to Pat Olivieri. Rumor is that that somewhere in 1930, Olivieri decided to put some beef into the standard hot dogs that he sold, instead of the usual sausage. A passing cab driver noticed this, and asked for a steak sandwich of his own. Soon, other cabbies began lining up at Olivieri’s stall demanding the same delicious sandwich.
In view of rising demand, Pat Olivieri opened up shop at 9th Street and Passyunk Avenue, and a Philadelphia icon was born. Today, Pat Olivieri’s shop is still selling cheesesteaks 24 hours a day. Pay a visit to Pat’s by taking your party bus down to Passyunk Avenue, and be prepared to wait in line. The line moves quickly, but you must be ready with your order, and your cash, by the time you reach the counter. Indecision and hesitation is frowned upon by both staff and customers.
Although Pat Olivieri is credited with inventing the steak sandwich, debate rages over who actually added the cheese to it, thus inventing the actual cheesesteak. A claim to this is forwarded by Geno’s Steaks. A 40 year battle has been waged between Geno’s and Pat’s for the title of best cheesesteak in Philly. Located just across the road from Pat Olivieri’s, Geno’s is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can drop by for a cheesesteak whenever the urge hits you, but there is, like Pat’s usually a line.
A third rival to the title is Jim’s Steaks. You can find Jim’s in several locations in Philadelphia, but the one to go to is South Street. An aroma of frying onions greets you as you walk in the door. There is usually line stretching out of Jim’s and round the corner into 4th Street, but the wait is well worth it.
